Biography

I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, a small city with a lot to offer. It afforded me the opportunity to become a leader in the community, through various groups and projects, and instilled a work ethic that can not be matched. That, along with a loving and supportive family, prepared me for the years I've spent honing my public relations skills.

As a child, I loved writing. I kept a journal and wrote notes to friends and family daily. I've been told for years that "as long as I can write, I'll be fine" and I try to remind young people of that. After graduating from Hoover High school in 2004, I attended Auburn University where I enrolled as an elementary education major. Although several of my teachers and principals had positive influences on my life and I admired what they did, I realized, during my second semester, that I was not created to teach. Public relations was the best fit! It allowed me to expanded upon the leadership and writing skills that I acquired as a child. In 2008, I began to spend Christmas, Spring and Summer breaks gaining experience through internships. I chose something I truly enjoyed doing and didn't mind spending every minute of my vacation doing it.

I received my bachelor of arts degree from Auburn University in May 2009. Over the last few years, I've gained solid media relations and internal communications experience in non-profit, telecommunications, television news, government and education sectors. I specialize in gaining the attention of both general and diverse audiences using traditional and social media strategies.

I am an engaging and energetic leader who truly enjoys the art of public relations. Currently, I am developing and managing the brands of the oldest historically black college in the state of Alabama, Talladega College, and a nonprofit that seeks to rebuild urban youth in Birmingham, Alabama and Charlotte, North Carolina, Growing Kings, Inc.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, shopping, spending quality time with family and friends or curling up in the bed with a great book.
